Asian Double Reed Association Conference 2011

We are very excited to announce that the Oboe Duo Agosto will be travelling to Bangkok, Thailand in August! We are invited to participate at the inaugural conference of the Asian Double Reed Association. We will be presenting a duo concert entitled “The Asian-American Experience Enriches the World of Oboe Playing”, which features Asian folk, American folk, contemporary and cross-cultural music written and arranged for the oboe and the English horn, including two world premieres written for us by American composer Phil Salathe and Taiwanese composer Feng-Hsu Lee. Charles will also be presenting, together with Lily Lin, piano faculty at the University of Mahidol, a lecture recital on the oboe transcription of  Brahms’ second violin sonata.

We look forward to the musical and cultural exchange!

Explore a new Path

On April 29, 2011, Charles and I, together with violist Kum-Joung You, cellist Han-Wei Lu, and pianist Lily Lin, as the Sylvanus Ensemble , will present the world premiere of Path, a piece by award-winning Hartt composer, Feng-Hsu Lee. The concert will take place in the beautiful sanctuary of The Universalist Church in West Hartford.

Other pieces on the program are works by Beethoven, Debussy, Mozart and Telemann, most of them rearranged to accommodate the unusual instrumentation of the quintet.
